The Reading Eggs Lead Educator program is an initiative to recognise and support K-12 educators who are innovative leaders, integrating Reading Eggs technologies in the classroom. Our Lead Educators are ambassadors to their community, inspiring teachers with their passion for teaching with technology.
Niky Corfios teaches at Beverley Hills Primary in Doncaster East in Victoria. She enjoys all aspects of education from the administration framework, to mentoring and educating students, and sharing with colleagues new educational concepts and ideas. Niky attributes successful online learning to the nexus between engagement, personalisation and education content, embracing the connection to students all around the world.
Violet Nicola’s role at Beverley Hills is as Education support administrator, assisting teachers across IT support including for their eLearning. Originating from South Africa, working at Beverley Hills Primary is a family affair. Her young son attends and both Violet’s parents teach at the school. Violet is clear that we never stop learning, oftentimes learning from the children that we teach.
Marvi is Campus Coordinator and ICT teacher at Lahore Grammar School, Pakistan, with 9 years teaching experience. Her responsibilities include teaching ICT to years 2 and 3, mentoring and guiding teachers to promote IT supported learning at school, and collaborates in developing and implementing instructional strategies to support teaching and learning.
She feels studying and implementing Reading Eggs instructional framework and philosophy has helped to develop her teaching skills. She finds it assists teachers to teach English language and she intends to cascade it to her teachers and other educators this year.
Megan Jackson – St Thomas of Villanova, Mareeba, QLD, Australia
Megan has worked with Cairns Catholic Education for the past 10 years. During this time, she has taught grades 2 to 6 gaining valuable teaching experience and insight into how students learn. She is currently teaching Year 5 at St Thomas of Villanova Parish School in Mareeba, located on the Atherton Tablelands.
Megan is very involved with her school community by running an Indigenous homework club after school with the Learning Support Teacher and mentoring pre-service teachers. Megan is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies through Griffith University.
Christine Peterson – Scots PCG College, QLD, Australia
Christine Peterson is the Learning Support Aide for junior and middle school, and is currently in the final year of her Bachelor of Education at USQ, with a middle years focus.
Christine has attended Reading Eggs workshops for her own professional learning and delivers PD for staff at her school, sharing how to integrate Reading Eggs as part of a multimodal learning framework.
Michelle sees her role as education facilitator, in providing every student with the opportunity to succeed through personalising their learning. She leads and supports teachers in approaches that assist students to achieve their learning outcomes, for example assisting teachers to identify how the individual student/cohort are progressing, what they know and what is the next step in their learning.
Marissa Egan – Miami State School, Mermaid Waters, QLD, Australia
Marissa Egan’s passion for education lies in giving her students the tools and confidence to own their learning journey. Having been teaching for 6 years, Marissa is currently a Year 5 teacher and the Year 5 Year Level Coordinator at Miami State School.
Her goal as Leading Educator with Reading Eggs is to continue her support of teachers in getting their students online at school and at home, focusing specifically on building teacher capacity and confidence using the resources.
Michael sees his role as an educator clearly: to foster, develop and maintain the academic and social development of primary school-aged children through establishing and implementing sound teaching and learning programs that aim to engage students at school. Michael is a primary teacher, and has been teaching for nearly two years.
Teagan Snowling – The Grange P-12 College, VIC, Australia
Teagan Snowling is the ICT Coach for The Grange P-12 College, Primary Campus. She has spent the last 6 years in the classroom teaching years 3-6 and is now the multimedia teacher for years 3-5.
As head of the school’s ICT professional learning team, she initiates contact with new staff within their first few weeks to ensure they are integrating Reading Eggs into their curriculum as quickly as possible.
Janelle Stuart – Fitzgerald SS, North Mackay, QLD, Australia
Janelle’s is a Teacher Librarian, and Digital Technology and Literacy specialist, she teaches all year levels P-6. Janelle’s career has extended to 24 years of service with Education Queensland, undertaking roles including Prep Teacher-in-Charge, Acting Principal and classroom teacher. She is extremely passionate about all areas of a child’s education and believes that it is a lifelong process believing that students who enjoy and love learning are more likely to become successful in their chosen paths.
As a Reading Eggs Lead Educator, she plans to continue to up skill classroom teachers with Reading Eggs and to continue her ‘Switched On Saturday’ sessions for the wider community to become more involved in their children’s learning.
Leanne O’Brien – Jubilee Christian College, Atherton, QLD, Australia
Leanne O’Brien has a particular interest in online learning. Working in distance education, she identifies a high level of engagement and motivation from students, whilst having high visibility of student progress, strengths and weaknesses.
Leanne offers PD to her colleagues showing them how to use the program for teaching, learning and monitoring students’ literacy development over the school year. Her role extends that support to her ‘distance ed’ families.
