Taxonomic Ranks

Taxonomic ranks are a way to classify living things and understand how closely they are related.  The ranks are organised in a hierarchy, starting with the widest possible grouping or rank and then dividing this into smaller groupings or ranks.

With IntoScience, students can explore each of the taxonomic ranks for a variety of different species, allowing them to apply their understanding through various activities such as identifying the most closely related species in a group.

Students analyse different models or visual representations of the taxonomic ranks, looking at their advantages and disadvantages. Engaging activities and rich visuals make this an enjoyable subject to both teach and learn.
