With the help of his fellow teachers,  Mr. Benoanie has taken student engagement to the next level.

Every week, Mr. Benoanie has been encouraging students to be highly active in Mathletics program, whether if it is taken place at school, classroom, at home, or even outside of town!

“Ever since Black Lake School has been recognized as one of the top Classes in Canada, I felt the students wanted to do something very similar and would like to achieve something”

In an effort to motivate the students to become actively engaged,  Mr. Benoanie came up with a School-wide Scoreboard displayed on the bulletin board, outside of the computer class.

“Every morning, I write down the class’ number of points on a flashcard, and paste the points on the board with sticky-tac. Students can easily see where they are currently standing, and it gives them a visual idea of where they want to be by the end of the week. Not only I update them with points on a daily basis, but I also write a quick note for the secretary to make morning announcements, recognizing the top 3 classes of the day (starting with third place, second place, and first place).”

Students at Father Megret High School continue to challenge themselves and improve their math skills.

Thank you to for sharing this awesome idea for student engagement!

Keep up the good work!
