Hosted by Nottingham Trent University and funded by Capital One, the event was attended by 28 children from several schools in the Bilborough and St Ann’s area in Nottingham.

The pupils worked in two teams competing against each other by answering as many correct questions on Mathletics in an hour. There was a really good natured, competitive mood among the children as they battled to try and be the best overall student and be part of the top team.

The competition was intense as they played Live Mathletics and answered curriculum activities.

After a nail biting final five minutes, it was clear that there were several contenders for the individual winner.

When the Mathletics team took some time out to verify the results, they had no idea which team or individual would be victorious.

The top performing individual student was Anna  from Walter Halls Primary School in St Ann’s EIP , earning  3,300 points in one hour!!!!

Jason  from Melbury Primary School in Bilborough was a very close second finishing only a few points behind her.

The race for the best team was on and once the final results were in, there were less than 200 points between the two teams. Just edging ahead into first position was the Bilborough team who just pipped St Ann’s team to the post, showing that you can’t underestimate the importance of working as a team!

All the pupils earned a special participation certificate in recognition of their involvement in this exciting new event.

Jason and Anna both received a specially engraved trophy to acknowledge their achievement.

It was a very exciting, fun and fantastic event to be involved in and we are already looking forward to the next event in June…
