As part of the Maths & Spelling Challenge in September 2009 we donated a percentage of each Mathletics and Spellodrome subscription to CanTeen, the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer. We were delighted to be able to present CanTeen with a cheque for over $10,000.

This money will be used to fund the “Girls Aloud” weekend, one of CanTeen’s many programs which benefits young people living with cancer. Girls aloud is a program that started in 2007 after CanTeen determined the separate needs of young men and young women living with Cancer in Australia.

The program focuses on developing self esteem, examines issues that are pertinent for young people living with Cancer and bereavement issues for young women. CanTeen are especially keen to ensure their young people learn some coping strategies for tough times in their lives and they work hard to ensure that the girls leave the program with these.
