On April 28th we celebrate the eighth anniversary of our first school using Mathletics in Canada! As we blow out the candles, we are reminded of Mathletics Canada’s humble beginnings within Calgary in 2009. Since then, the office has grown to 25 passionate and diverse staff members.
“I want to make a difference in this world. I know how important math is to all learners. Math is a life skill and we can help all students to learn math in a proven and safe environment.” explains Rene Burke, CEO.
From aiding a Canadian Grade 3 student master multiplication, to working with Unicef to help give children from around the world access to education resources, Mathletics aims to make a difference. Throughout our journey, the mission to help all children learn successfully is at the forefront of what we do.
Mathletics Canada’s first school was in Alberta but has now grown to classrooms as far east as Newfoundland and Labrador, as west as BC and even up north in the Yukon! The passion for learning has swept the nation over the years and we couldn’t have done it without the help of dedicated teachers and the students who use our program every day to improve their learning.
“Mathletics has been a great success. As educators we have found it to be an invaluable assessment and supplemental tool”- Mathletics Teacher.
On a broader scale, international teachers see value in the Mathletics program too, as it is used by over 100 000 teachers who work with 4.6 million students! Mathletics was originally developed in Sydney, Australia where over ten years of research have been accumulated into the program. This continuous development aims to serve the needs of our supporters and to evolve with learners on a global scale.
As we reflect on our journey both in Canada and worldwide, we would like to thank all of our supporters and look towards growing our Mathletics family even further. Who wants a slice of birthday Pi?
