Well done for making it to the next phase of the 2017 Reading Eggspedition. Now that your students have been placed on their own learning pathways, it’s time to start reading!

Over the last few days you and your students might have started to eggsplore the reading and comprehension lessons available in Reading Eggs and Eggspress. Great! Now it’s time to take the next step and check out the Library.

The Reading Eggspress Library

2017-01-05_10h22_44The library plays host to over 2,000 Lexile leveled eBooks, spanning literature, poetry and drama texts, as well as a wide range of informational texts on historically significant and topical world issues. The library contains books based on a variety of interests for students K-6, so even the most reluctant reader will find something engaging on its virtual shelves.

Navigating around the library is simple, books are arranged by topic and also searchable. You and your students can search for eBooks by title, topic, series, author, reading age or lexile level. As a teacher, you can access the Library via the Book Notes section in your teacher dashboard and Reading Eggspress students have full access to the Library in their student console. Challenge your students to pick one or two books they are interested in and read them for homework – students can access Reading Eggspress 24/7 and it is iPad compatible!

Reading Eggs My Program

2017-01-05_11h22_01For younger students still learning the basic foundations of reading in Reading Eggs, the full library is restricted; this is where My Program comes in. Each student will have their own personal My Program dashboard, complete with a series of carefully selected books chosen to match their reading ability. Four books appear in My Program and as students read them, they are replaced with more options. As part of the Reading Eggspedition, you could challenge your students to choose one book from My Program and read it for homework over the next few days.
