One of our favourite days of the year is here – World Book Day! March 2 marks the celebration of all things books including authors, illustrators and, of course, reading.

Why not join in the celebration? How, you may ask? Well, the team at ABC Reading Eggs has put together five fun ideas for you to try with your class this World Book Day. Remember to post pictures to our Twitter so we can see just how much fun you had.

Try new genres

The Reading Eggspress Library contains over 2000 eBooks covering a range of titles including illustrated chapter books, full-colour non-fiction books and a range of classics.

Have your students try a genre they’ve never read before. You never know, they might like it!

Take your eBooks mobile

Tablet accessibility means your students can access their learning materials wherever, whenever.

For a change of scenery, you could take your students outside so they can read their eBooks under a tree.

Set a class novel

Encourage group participation by setting a class novel. Students can bookmark then take turns reading around the class.

Challenge students to read at home

The great thing about Reading Eggs is that students have access to all of their learning materials at home. You could encourage your students to access the library while they are at home so they accumulate more golden eggs.

Craft their own stories

Story Factory is where Eggsplorers can create their very own story books with full-colour illustrations. Once they’ve written a story, you can print it out to create a real book, written by them.

As a teacher, you could model writing a story on an IWB then let your students loose to write their own.
