About the 2014 Signature Tour

The 2014 Signature Tour is just one event in a calendar of cycle tours as part of the Tour de Cure campaign, which aims to raise funds to fight cancer. Since 2007, Tour de Cure has raised more than $11 million to fund cancer research, support and prevention for men, women and children.

Taking place over a week, the tour across Australia and will see riders cycle from Sydney in New South Wales, travelling through the capital city of Canberra, the state of Victoria, across the Tasman Sea and finishing in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania – a distance of over 1,500km!

A big part of the tour is sharing the cancer awareness message with communities they pass through along the way. The team visits two to three Primary schools each day to share the Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy message to kids and their school community – and here at 3P Learning we will be supporting them all the way!

The team at 3P Learning has been honoured to work with the Tour de Cure organisation to develop a set of brand new FREE Visual Literacy resources for Primary and Secondary students.

The themed activities support any discussions or lessons being done in conjunction with the upcoming tour and can also be used as stand-alone activities to support Visual Learning in Primary and Secondary classrooms.

Visual Literacy has become an increasingly prominent part of the curriculum and focuses on a student’s ability to interpret and make meaning from information presented in the form of an image. Visual literacy is based on the idea that pictures can be “read” and that meaning can be communicated through the process of reading.

Download Visual Literacy Resources and stand a chance to win!

Entries have now closed, however you can still download the Visual Literacy Resources to use in your classroom. Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for updates on the winner.

Schools that download the Visual Literacy resources will also be acknowledged on our Honour Roll as proud supporters of the Tour de Cure.

The team at 3P Learning have also teamed up with the Tour de Cure crew and author Terry Hawkins to produce a brand new online version of the Flipman Rules® book “Let’s Do Well”.

Terry Hawkins is an award-winning author and her books are designed specifically to give children information and a support mechanism for life.

This edition of the much loved Flipman book series sees the titular character meet young boy Freddie, whose Grandpa is ill with cancer. During the book, Freddie learns more about cancer from his new superhero friend and how to cope with and express his feelings about this emotional time.

The book was written in association with Tour de Cure to teach children about the difficult subject of cancer – and now the team at 3P Learning have created an online eBook of the story to celebrate the 2014 Signature Tour.
