Hello everyone, my name is Geoffrey Mendoza, a Grade Six student from St. Luke School in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I am so excited to be here at the Love Learning Conference and I am very honoured to be one of Canada’s student Ambassadors to promote the World Education Games.
When I found out last June that I was chosen as an Ambassador, I can’t describe my excitement, because I knew that I will make my parent’s proud. And who doesn’t enjoy learning, especially Math. At first, Mathletics was my excuse for playing on my iPad during school days. Lo and behold, I am hooked on it and the rest is history.
Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen event in my family, we flew to the Philippines and was away for almost 8 weeks during summer. This did not stop me from my role as an Ambassador, I’ve asked my Dad’s assistance to help me send letters to our Premier, Minister of Education in our province and other famous people through emails. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Liz Coffey, who sent paper copies of letters on my behalf. And guess what? They replied with letters of expressing their support and is also helping me spread WEG around Saskatchewan. Thought this was really cool and awesome. I also arranged a presentation at assembly in my school with the
help of my principal.
I encourage you all to participate in the upcoming World Education games, not only it is fun, it is also a free competition. If your school gets lucky, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Zimbabwe next year to witness the UNICEF project in giving back to the community.
