The Australian National Curriculum requires teachers to consider visual literacy and multimodal texts in their teaching, so that students can understand how visual elements create meaning.
We’ve got just the thing to help you, Teachers!
Our Specialist Educators have created a Visual Literacy Package, containing 3 separate topical units of work for students aged 4-18. All three units are classroom ready and include a clear focus, sets of questions, engaging activities as well as detailed teacher notes.
These units fit into the National Curriculum literacy continuum, in particular the comprehending and composing of texts with visual knowledge and using a wide variety of multimodal texts:
- promote discussion and critical thinking in relation to visual images.
- teach students how to make meaning from visual images.
- enhance students’ verbal and written literacy skills through discussion and written responses.
