Mathletics was invited by the New Zealand Telecommunications Industry Group to participate in the Planet 2010 Conference held at Sky City Conference Centre in Auckland, New Zealand on March 12 & 13, 2010. The top 4 World Maths Day 2010 competitors in New Zealand in each age category were brought to Auckland to participate in a play off for the title of New Zealand’s Top Mathlete.
Sarah and Jamie from Mathletics point out the exciting programme for the day.
The Conference was opened by Buzz Aldrin – the second man to walk on the moon.
We all got a real buzz out of meeting someone who had actually walked on the moon! Here is Ky, our Chief Architect, with the original moonwalker himself.
Comedian Dai Henwood was MC for the occasion. Here are the 5 – 8 year old World Maths Day winners competing in the finals in front of a large audience who could follow their progress on the big screens.
Many thanks to the Telecom Industry Group for enabling this event, HP for providing the laptops (with built in numeric keypads!) and Casio and Vodafone for providing awesome prizes – a great time was had by all!
