March Mathletics Master Class


We are pleased to announce that our March Mathletics Master Class is Miss. Miller’s class at Chaplin School in Chaplin, SK.  We were impressed by Miss. Miller’s dedication to motivate her class in Math by using Mathletics in a fun and creative way! Read on to get some great ideas for your classroom.

Master Class - March

“I personally started using Mathletics about 4 years ago at the school I was working at prior to coming to Chaplin School. I started teaching at Chaplin School in September of 2013 and have been using Mathletics from day one. Over the years I have incorporated Mathletics in my classrooms in a variety of ways, but this year has proven to be the most effective. In the fall, we decided as a class to set a goal of acquiring 100 Mathletics certificates. As an extra incentive to my students, I posted a chart in the classroom counting up to 100 so they could monitor their progress. What has ensued has been incredibly exciting to watch. Students are now motivating each other to push themselves each week to get enough points to get a certificate. We achieved our goal of 100 by mid-December 2013 and are already over halfway to our next 100. Each time we reach 100 certificates I reward my students for all their hard work with some fun time. We had a movie morning for our first reward and have discussed having a road hockey game or playing board games. They have decided that they want to achieve a goal of 500 certificates before the end of the school year. With a class of only 20 students this is quite a lofty goal but my students are motivated so I will be excited to see the end result.

Through using Mathletics I have seen the results of all of my students hard work positively impact their achievement in the classroom. They are able to practice their skills in a different way and see their progress which has motivated many of them to work even harder. They also enjoy challenging each other on Live Mathletics. The Mathletics iPad app has also been very effective at allowing us to gain more access to Mathletics and using it anywhere.”
