Kia Ora everyone! We’ve had an excellent start to this year’s challenge, with many students racing to the top of the Hall of Fame already, battling it out for top spot. Quite a few of you have called and emailed in about the difference between a small school and a big school so we thought it best to clarify what a small school is, and why we have made this distinction this year.
A small school is any school where 50 students or less participate in the challenge and will appear on the Small Schools Hall of Fame and be eligible for the Small Schools prize of a specially engraved trophy and $500 from ASB, our generous sponsors of this year’s event.
All other schools where 51 students or more participate will appear on the Schools Hall of Fame and be eligible for the nationwide schools prize of a specially engraved trophy and $500 from ASB, our generous sponsors of this year’s event.
Each year we review the challenge, scrutinising every little detail to see where we can make improvements and ensure that all competition is as fair as possible. So we looked into it to see what we could do to make it fair for all schools to compete this year and decided to create a small schools prize and hall of fame for schools where 50 students or less participate from a school.
We are all about keeping the challenge fun and fair for all participants, and with these fantastic prizes up for grabs, and well over a full day’s competition left to play, we look forward to watching the competition heat up as more students and schools get into the spirit of the event.
